Greatest Davidson Basketball Players of All Time

Fred Hetzel
1st pick in 1965 NBA draft. Averaged almost 26 pts and 11 boards per game during his 3 years at the school.  Once scored 53 points and grabbed 27 rebounds in game against Furman in 1964. Davidson ranked top 5 in the country during his senior season. 2 time first team All American (64-65).
Stephen Curry
70 points in two upset wins to kick off the 2008 NCAA Tournament.
Mike Maloy
2 Time first team All American (68-69).  Took Davidson to the Elite 8 both his junior and senior season.  Drafted by Virginia Squires of the ABA.
Brandon Williams
Nickamed "Ozone" for his incredible leaping ability.  Graduated as 9th all time leading scorer.  Honorable mention All American his last two years in college.  Won NBA championship with San Antonio Spurs.
Derek Rucker
Graduated with 3rd most points in school history.  One of five Davidson players to have his jersey retired. Lead Davidson to NCAA berth in 1986.  Enjoyed long and successful professional career in Australia.
John Gerdy
Scored a school record 2,483 points.  Accomplished that feat despite 5 coaching changes during his time at the school.  All American in 1979.  Scored 30 or more points in 10 consecutive games.  Drafted by New Jersey Nets, Gerdy left basketball to get a PHd. Currently a successful author.
Dick Snyder
1st team All American in 1966.  4th in career scoring at Davidson.  Teamed with Hetzel for some of the school's most dominant seasons.  Spent 13 years in the NBA. Fantastic athlete - was recruited by every major school for football coming out of high school.
