First off if you have Dirk Nowitzki at C this team is in serious trouble. Also I would take Steve Nash over Jason Kidd. I remember the good old days when you couldn't find Mavericks and All-Star in the same sentence nonetheless back to back.

You have to have Dirk in the line up, but he doesnt stack up to the old greats. He fits in his role at center here because of Jamal's size and strength and Gary Trent's versatility. As far as Nash goes, Kidd in his prime is a smarter player then Nash was. But yes Mavs and All-Star used to be a joke. I dont miss those days, but the greatest game of all time is when the Mavs of old beat the visiting bulls when McCloud hit a 3 while triple teamed to take the game into overtime. Id kill to find that shot somewhere on youtube

I'm remember Gary Trent as unbelievably talented (more from his days at OU)...but no Mark Aguirre at SF? I guess it just depends - if you're trying to put together a real team that would have to play together, there are only so many shots to go around with Blackman, Mashburn and Dirk -so Trents rebounding might be more important. Still, Aguirre was pretty much the franchise in the 80s.
