Records That Will Never Be Broken

Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt scoring 100 points in one game
Cal Ripken
The Iron Man starting 2,632 games in a row, spanning 16 seasons. Breaking the previous record of 2131 games by the Iron Horse. So Cal did not only break the record, he crushed it! Take a look at the memorial video... it's pretty cool.
Ty Cobb
Ty Cobb played 24 seasons in the MLB and the only season he hit below .316 was his rookie season. Cobb hit over .380 nine times, over .400 three times, and finished his career with a .366 average. The video is a little long but pretty cool... check it out.
John Wooden - 88 Straight Wins
Talk about dynasty. 88 straight wins over three seasons and 3 NCAA championships (of a record breaking seven straight). The streak started after a loss to Noter Dame on January 23, 1971 and ended with a loss to Noter Dame on January 19, 1974.
Cy Young - 511 Wins
I'm just going to post a couple numbers from pitchers who are considered to be the best pitchers of this era and are also later in their career. Randy Johnson: 284 wins, Curt Schilling: 215, Greg Maddux: 347, Nolan Ryan: 324, and Tom Glavine: 303. The player with the second most wins, Walter Johnson with 417 wins.
Joe DiMaggio - 56 game hitting streak
After being hitless in the 57th game, he hit safely in 16 more consecutive games for a streak of 72 of 73 games. Since DiMaggio set the record in 1941, only one person has had a major league hitting streak of 40+ games (Pete Rose in 78).
Oscar Robertson - 181 Triple Doubles
If his first five seasons are strung together, Robertson averaged a triple-double over these 400+ games
Wilt Chamberlain - 55 rebounds in one game
Wilt set the record in 1960. Last time someone reached even 40 boards in one game was 1969...and that was Wilt too. Shaq's career high was 28 in one game.
Johnny Vander Meer - 2 consecutive no hitters
It may be tied some day... but I think its a pretty good bet that it'll never be broken.
Edwin Moses - wins 122 consecutive races
Moses lost to some German guy in 1977 - then took a break from losing for the next nine years, nine months and nine days. During that time he won the 400 meter hurdles against world class competitition 122 consecutive times.
